Crooked teeth

Crooked teeth and orthodontic relapse:

Mouth breathing can lead to many symptoms including: Altered craniofacial growth and development (elongated face, retracted jaw), inadequate space for teeth to erupt (teeth are more crowded requiring orthodontics and likely to experience orthodontic relapse). The tongue is nature’s palatal expander and the lips are nature’s braces. With proper oral posture there will be more space for the tongue creating more room for teeth so less crowded and crooked teeth. If orthodontic treatment has been completed but oral habits aren’t changed, relapse will occur. Working together with an orthodontist that understands craniofacial growth and the importance of expansion along with being airway focused is extremely important.
